First Things First LOL ........
Four Years since i posted anything and today when i was just randomly searching to pass my time I thought why not search for my Blog and see if it is still existing. And VOILA I found it.. And then i was thinking why not post something in my blog , I have lots of Free time. Then i realized that i did not post anything during my Entire Tenure with my Previous Org , I did not find time there at all. So i thought why not blog about why i switched and what i feel about my old org. and the new org. Incidentally It's been One Month Since i quit my Prev Company.(Today is the World Coincidence Day) ... So Why this Title ???? It's very Simple as the Old Saying Says " Grass Is Greener on the Other Side " (My Version "Beer is always cooler in the Other Mug")...
Whats the Grass ???
Well there are two entities here :-
1) My Current Company :- I shouldn't name it so will give you a Clue (BheeeWoohYeaah)
2) My Previous Company :- I have already spent my Final Settlement so the clue is (WIPRO Tech .)
The GrassHopper ???
Yaa yaaa it's me .............
So yes why do i even want to compare both of them ??? I have resigned from my previous company on my own very will... Well the answer is very obvious somewhere i miss it.. But that does not by any means speak anything bad about my current one..
I chuck the idea of comparing the two and i will try to generalize this topic and see if i can analyze the psyche as to why people switch companies...
So what possible reasons do people switch companies ?????
1) Monetary Reasons :- This is the single and most common and important reason why people hop . However materialistic this may sound but yes MONEY IS THE REASON WHY PEOPLE DO JOBS. But i don't think 99% of companies keep their employees happy money wise for more than 2 yrs. Which is why most of hop syndrome occurs.
2) Bad Friends :- Well Enemies are never the reason you wanna get out. It is because you have people around you who make you feel uncomfortable which is why you wanna leave . This however is very rare reason for leaving a org.
3) Either you are incompetent or your Manager is :- Well the whole world revolves around curves. And if you don't see your Growth Curve the way it should be then you have no reason staying there. But also on the contrary with a nice Growth Curve and No Money seldom do people stay back.
So for all the reasons one may give or feel and switch between Companies is there really any difference in the GRASS the GRASSHOPPER EATS ????
Well there was a time when few companies were said to be great places to work at. They said the work culture is awesome and blah blah blah... But now this sentence is not being heard so well ... except for a very very few companies all the companies are now somehow getting normalized with respect to this very abused word "WORK CULTURE" .Why ??? How is that organizations are changing in this direction which is not how they are supposed to go .. Well the answer for this is at a very micro level rather than at a Macro Level.. Its very simple "EVEN MANAGERS CHANGE COMPANIES" . That's it simple . if you have a manager who is from a background of a not so good for work company there is 90% chance that your current company is also gonna be the same . So according to me you changing a company for a better work environment or work culture does not hold water if you are working with a company with 1000+ headcount because Manager is like your parents you cannot choose them/him but its the vice-versa .
I wont be speaking about Money being a reason for change because that's an obvious reason why people change . But i will speak about does money help in making the grass look or feel any better ?????
Well lets say you are switching from Wipro to Infosys . For an increase in salary of 50%(Nice Hike). Now lets say you are above avg. working employee and know your stuff well. Now There is no difference whatsoever in the HR Policies of the two companies. No difference in the Processes in the two and also no difference in the way work is going to be done and also the amount of work that would be done. So does a 50 % hike justify in typecasting yourself into the same kind of jar but a different one ???? How does 50% make this grass better ??? and also speaking of which you wont have a hike for 2 yrs in your new company so even by modest hikes you tend to gain only 25% of hike . Well then next in your new company you need to start from base zero and do all the hard work again and easily you work 30 % more sincerely than your prev company. Now who stands to be at loss ??? If you are switching from your current company to its direct competitor ( Same category) you stand absolutely no chance of gaining anything that's worthwhile and also the grass is the SAME.
We are so messed up with our instant coffee thinking that we don't see anymore long term solutions. We are all concerned with instant benefits and instant solutions to problems and it is this thinking methodology which has created a scenario where we have become grasshoppers and just keep jumping from one grass (Not only Jobs but Situations in General) to another in the hope that it WOULD be better . There is very little rationale in our thinking (if at all) and this attitude has got us into situations which we rather need not be . Simple with respect to the Job Scenario most of the Companies budget is allocated to acquisitions rather than retentions . Well if we all are not so short sighted in our thinking and rather the market attrition was at acceptable levels then the shift in the balance would have occurred to retention which definitely would be the right path . But now the thought process has all changed we are moving from the FILTER COFFEE generation to the INSTANT COFFEE one . Our decisions and thoughts are based on analysis(quick) of facts and figures rather than the rationale thinking and sound judgement based on Experience and thorough analysis. No wonder you don't find people getting clothes stitched(Men) or waiting in the line for Movie tickets or taking time for making or taking decisions. That's not a good sign and it will definitely get us into trouble because you will eventually run out of GRASS to hop on to. But who is to be blamed ?? Definitely not NESCAFE and definitely not DEEPIKA . Rather people who adopt them are to be . Take time and go slow ... Don't Run until you have completed walking. .. The World is getting Smaller but the Clock is not so #Keep Walking
And i leave you with the QUOTE FOR the post ....
TAKE TIME TO DO SOMETHING BECAUSE EVEN SHIT TAKES TIME TO GET MADE...............
